SOFIA’S MIMESIS | Daniela Silvestri

Winter brings with it a sense of pause and lethargy, as if nature is taking a deep breath. Everything seems to slow down and remain suspended. It is a period of rest and preparation for the new life cycle that will come with spring. And it is a period of quiet also for many things, for all those everyday objects and those places that experience their maximum splendor in the hot season. These objects, almost ignored and forgotten, wait before someone notices their existence again.

There is a sense of anticipation in the freezing air, as if winter were only a temporary pause before life resumes its vigorous course. Indeed, in a city like Sofia, which carries the weight of an important past, it takes on the sense of mimesis.
